ARK News.. The World Health Organization (WHO) announced that it has received €12 million in humanitarian funding from the European Union to support Syria’s health sector and strengthen its capacity to respond to healthcare needs across the country.

The WHO said the new funding will help provide medicines for noncommunicable diseases, while also supporting emergency medical care and mental health services—sectors that require continued supplies and equipment to ensure patients have access to essential care.

According to the organization, part of the funding will be allocated to medical equipment and supplies for critical hospital departments, including dialysis units, emergency rooms, surgical departments, and intensive care units.

The support also aims to help maintain essential medical services, strengthen the readiness of healthcare facilities to respond to emergencies and patients requiring specialized care, and improve the availability of vital medicines and medical supplies.
