Al-Shaibani: Syria’s Doors Are Open to All Its Citizens Without Exception
ARK News.. Syrian Foreign Minister and Expatriates Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani reaffirmed Syria’s commitment to building a comprehensive partnership and strengthening cooperation with Denmark in a way that serves mutual interests and contributes to Syria’s stability and recovery.
Speaking at a press conference with his Danish counterpart Lars Lokke Rasmussen on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, al-Shibani said the two sides discussed working toward a partnership agreement that would provide an institutional framework for cooperation between the two countries across various fields, as well as moving the Syrian-Danish Business Council from a theoretical agreement to practical implementation.
The Syrian foreign minister said the talks also addressed the situation of Syrians living in Denmark, stressing that “Syria’s doors are open to all its citizens without exception” and that the government supports their voluntary and safe return.
He added that direct flights between Damascus and Copenhagen are scheduled to begin on September 21, serving the Syrian community in Denmark and strengthening ties between the two countries.
Al-Shaibani also praised Denmark’s positions in support of Syria’s unity and the independence of its national decision-making at the UN Security Council.
Regarding the return of Syrian refugees, al-Shibani said that 1.8 million refugees have returned to Syria since the country’s “liberation.” He added that the era of ethnic and sectarian divisions under the former regime had come to an end, stressing that Syria belongs to all Syrians and that its diversity is a source of strength.
He also encouraged Syrians living abroad to return and contribute to the country’s reconstruction and rebuilding efforts.
