Nafie Peru: Regime’s elections are not important for Syrians
ARK News: A leader in the Kurdistan Democratic Party - Syria describes the elections of the local administration of the Syrian regime are not important for the Syrians, and says that all the current indicators are in the interest of the Syrian regime.
Nafie Peru, a member of the political bureau of the Kurdistan Democratic Party-Syria (KDP-S) said about the local administration elections of the Syrian regime that "This is the second time that the regime has called for local administration elections. The first time was at the end of 2011 when the regime was in a state of confusion and tried to circumvent of the demands of the rebels, the regime has failed miserably because of the general strike that accompanied these elections.”
Peru describes the state of elections at this stage that it comes "after 7 years of the revolution and the destruction of infrastructure and the displacement of nearly half of the Syrian people, both at home and abroad, and although these elections are no longer important to the majority of Syrians, but the regime will try to restore the provisions the control of the joints of the state through the Baath Party as it was in the past, and will choose a delegation from the narrow circle after a thorough study to fill these sensitive positions and this is what we are aware of Resolution No. 108 of 2018 for these elections.”
About the message and objective that the Syrian regime wants to hold its elections at this stage Peru says:
"Being the next stage is the stage of reconstruction, the regime is aware of the role of the local councils and insists to rule and control to the entire state, especially since the current situation is in the interest of the regime after the military victories that have achieved and the vastness of territory it has controlled and will try to harness it for political gain. With regard to the political solution to the crisis, we believe that all current indicators are in its favor to achieve what is working for it in light of unlimited Russian support for it on the one hand and shrink the role of the Syrian opposition in general on the other hand”
