Damascus Ranked the World’s Least Livable City

ARkNews: A new survey has ranked Damascus as the least livable city in the world for the second year running with observers attributing the reason to the rampant sectarian militias and the ongoing crimes against civilians, especially daily detention of civilians.

Activists said that the results of the survey, which was conducted by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), were in tune with human rights groups’ reports accusing the Assad regime and the Iranian terrorist militias of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Syria.

The EIU said that crime, civil unrest, terrorism or war played a "strong role" in the ten-lowest scoring cities.

The Syrian Coalition earlier stressed that bringing about a genuine political transition in Syria in accordance with the Geneva Communiqué of 2012 and UN Security Council Resolution 2254 is the only way to restore stability to the country and create the appropriate conditions for the return of refugees to their areas of origin.

Earlier this week, German newspaper Bild warned that the Assad regime prepared a list of three million wanted persons both in the country and abroad with the aim of taking reprisals against them for participating in the activities of the Syrian revolution.

The Coalition said that facts on the ground proved that Russia did not have the ability to rein in the actions of the Assad regime and its allied foreign militias as well as exposed the dark side of the Russia role in Syria.
