The flow of thousands from Idlib to Afrin and resettlement operations are ongoing
ARK News: The Kurdish region of Afrin is witnessing nowadays the influx of hundreds of Arab displaced families due to the war and the continuous shelling on the areas of Idlib province to the villages and areas of the region, where some armed factions resettle Arab families in the homes of displaced Kurds, while others settle to unfinished buildings (under construction) in the city and its environs.
According to informed sources reported on Friday, August 30, 2019, the area witnessed the influx of hundreds of displaced families from Idlib to the city of Afrin and its villages and environs. Adding that the families settle in buildings which are not ready for shelter, while some factions to settle the Arab families in the homes of Kurds, especially displaced people to the areas of rural Aleppo (Shahba areas).
According to eyewitnesses confirmed on the social networking sites that hundreds of cars belonging to displaced people from Idlib turned towards the towns of Rajo and Mabata through the main Rajo street in Afrin city center.
Since the start of the military operation in areas of rural Idlib and Hama by the Syrian regime and Russian forces, thousands of families have been displaced towards other areas and the Turkish-Syrian border, especially after the regime took control of strategic sites and areas in northern Syria.
The Afrin region has been subjected to systematic demographic change with the settlement of tens of thousands of Arab families in it since the beginning of the war last year 2018, and the process continues until today. At the same time, tens of thousands of indigenous Kurds live in rural Aleppo areas, which have become known as the Shahba areas, where the PYD deliberates to preventing the return of Kurdish families to their region.
