Netherlands Renews Commitment to Supporting Kurdistan’s Peshmerga Forces

ARK News.. The Netherlands has renewed its commitment to continuing support for the Peshmerga forces and the Kurdistan Region during a meeting between a delegation from the Kurdistan Regional Government’s Representation to the European Union and senior officials from the Dutch ministries of foreign affairs and defense.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the security implications of the regional conflict for the Kurdistan Region, as well as relations between Erbil and Baghdad. They stressed the need to resolve outstanding issues on the basis of the Iraqi federal constitution.

The Dutch side praised the positive role of President Masoud Barzani and the Kurdistan Regional Government in de-escalating tensions in Syrian Kurdistan (Northeastern Syria) and supporting the peace process in Turkey.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Kurdistan Region’s representative called on the Dutch side to strengthen its political support for the Region and encourage Dutch companies and investors to expand their investments across various development sectors in the Kurdistan Region.
