ARK News.. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has called for the arrest of Hezbollah officials in connection with the case of an explosives-laden truck, according to the Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar.

The newspaper reported that Aoun asked Army Intelligence to expand its investigation into the case

According to Al-Akhbar, following the request, Lebanon’s Public Prosecutor at the Court of Cassation, Rami al-Hajj, issued judicial instructions to security agencies to arrest Hussein Abdullah, head of Hezbollah’s Liaison and Coordination Committee, and his assistant, Ali Ayyoub. The measures reportedly relate to their alleged knowledge of the explosives truck and their responsibility for the matter, and are intended to establish the identities of all other individuals involved.

The newspaper said the state was moving toward a course of internal confrontation and provocation. Hezbollah, meanwhile, had rejected relinquishing the explosives through a statement by MP Hassan Fadlallah, shifting the dispute from a security and judicial process to direct confrontation with the authorities, according to the report.

Al-Akhbar also reported that Hezbollah was no longer responding to domestic pressure according to the approach that had guided its positions in the past. It added that mounting confrontations, continued Israeli attacks, and the absence of a clear path toward a settlement could prompt the group to reassess the limits of its internal confrontation.

The newspaper further noted that Aoun had sought to push the United States to pressure Israel, citing leaks from the presidential palace. However, it said the course of U.S. demands did not indicate that this approach had so far been a priority for Washington.
