Aleppo Fuel Crisis Leads to Decline in Public Transport
ARK News.. A Syrian news source reported that a fuel crisis continues in Aleppo city and its countryside, amid shortages of diesel fuel and limited supplies to petrol stations. The shortage has led to long queues outside stations and a decline in public transport services on several routes across the city.
According to Syria TV, more than 12 diesel tankers arrived in Aleppo on Friday, but the delivery was insufficient to meet demand. Supplies subsequently ran out at petrol stations, with the last station closing shortly after midnight between Friday and Saturday, October 23–24, 2026.
The source added that the diesel shortage has also spread to the Aleppo countryside, where most areas are experiencing an almost complete interruption of supplies.
The crisis has affected transport services across the city, with the number of minibuses operating on some routes falling by around half, causing overcrowding and delays for passengers.
The source said some drivers had resorted to buying diesel on the black market to keep their vehicles running. Prices ranged from 250 to 280 new Syrian pounds per liter. Fares have not increased so far, despite growing complaints from drivers about the difficulty of securing fuel and the long hours spent searching for supplies.
