ARK News.. The Governor of the Central Bank of Syria, Mohammed Safwat Raslan, announced that around 80% of Syria's old banknotes have been replaced as part of what he described as a "successful national operation," saying the move has helped strengthen confidence in the country's monetary system.

Raslan said the next phase will include issuing the regulatory framework for licensing electronic wallets and digital payment services in line with the latest international standards.

He added that the Central Bank is working to create a stable monetary and financial environment that boosts investor confidence as part of the government's vision for economic reform, openness, and sustainable growth.

The governor also said that Damascus has regained the confidence of the international community, announcing the beginning of a new phase of economic partnership between Syria and France, which he said reflects a shift in the country's external economic relations.

Raslan further noted that work is underway to launch a national strategy to combat money laundering and terrorist financing.

He stressed that meeting the requirements for Syria's removal from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list is a national priority aimed at strengthening the integrity of the financial system and improving the country's investment climate.
