IAEA Raises Concerns Over Nuclear Material Verification at Iranian Sites
ARK News.. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has expressed concern over the inability to access and verify certain nuclear facilities in Iran, warning that the situation poses "proliferation concerns" and urging the Islamic Republic to engage in "constructive cooperation" with the agency.
According to the France Press Agency (AFP), the IAEA has been unable to access several key Iranian nuclear facilities since the outbreak of the 12-day conflict between Israel and the United States in June 2025, during which some nuclear sites were targeted in military strikes.
In a confidential report, the agency stated that while it recognizes that military attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities and sites have created an unprecedented situation, it remains "essential" for the agency to resume its verification activities in Iran without delay.
The report is scheduled to be discussed during next week's meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors.
The agency further noted that its inability to verify previously declared stocks of highly enriched uranium and low-enriched uranium for nearly a year — a delay it described as unusually long under standard safeguards practices — constitutes a serious nuclear proliferation concern.
The report added that Director General Rafael Grossi has called on Iran to cooperate constructively with the agency to facilitate the full and effective implementation of safeguards obligations within the country.
