Three Children Injured by Cluster Munition Explosion in Rural Homs

ARK News.. Three children were injured after a cluster munition left behind from the war exploded in the village of al-Saloumiya in the al-Qusayr countryside of Homs Governorate.

According to Syria TV, the unexploded cluster munition detonated while the children were playing in the area, leaving them with injuries ranging from moderate to critical. Local residents rushed the victims to a nearby medical point for emergency treatment.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) previously documented the deaths of at least 3,799 civilians, including 1,000 children and 377 women, as a result of landmines and unexploded cluster munitions in Syria between March 2011 and April 2026.

The organization also reported that 329 civilians, including 65 children and 29 women, have been killed by landmines and explosive remnants of war since the fall of Bashar al-Assad's government on December 8, 2024. It attributed the increase in such incidents to the growing number of displaced families returning to their homes and the resumption of agricultural activities in previously contaminated areas.
