Iran: No Plans to Resume Peace Talks with the United States
ARK News.. Iran has reaffirmed that it remains in control of the Strait of Hormuz and has no intention of resuming peace negotiations with the United States.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismaeel Baghaei said on Monday, July 27, 2026, that Tehran had not requested the resumption of talks with Washington aimed at ending the war, adding that the situation in the Strait of Hormuz "has not changed."
After 13 consecutive nights of intensive U.S. airstrikes, which Iran answered by targeting American military bases, President Donald Trump halted the campaign earlier this week. Tehran subsequently announced that it would suspend its retaliatory attacks as long as the United States refrains from further strikes.
According to a U.S. official and widely cited American media reports, Trump's decision to suspend the military campaign followed recommendations from senior military commanders, who concluded that the air campaign—intended to weaken Iran's control over the Strait of Hormuz—had reached the maximum level of effectiveness.
The U.S. official told Reuters that military leaders informed the president that available targets were becoming increasingly limited. The official also said Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine expressed concern over the depletion of air defense munitions used to protect U.S. military bases across the region.
