Marco Rubio: Israel’s Expansionist Policy Does Not Align with U.S. Policy
ARK News.. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the expansion of the Israeli military into Syrian and Lebanese territories, as well as the Gaza Strip, is not consistent with U.S. policy, stressing Washington’s opposition to any steps that could broaden tensions in the region.
Speaking during a hearing of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Subcommittee, Rubio said that the United States has made it clear that it does not wish to move in that direction.
"What you have just described is not the policy of the United States. We want to preserve the status quo, and we oppose any additional steps that could lead to wider destabilization, particularly in the West Bank," Rubio said.
He explained that Washington continues to engage with Syrian officials in order to address concerns raised by the Israeli government regarding Syria.
Rubio further stressed that U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan to end the war is “very clear,” noting that it consists of 20 points.
He said the plan calls for the administration of the Gaza Strip through an administrative structure that is currently being formed, including police personnel whom the United States is working to train, in addition to an international stabilization force tasked with creating the conditions necessary for investment.
