Hussein Qaidi: Around 400 Kurdish Yezidis Remain in Al-Hol Camp
ARK News.. The head of the Office for the Rescue of Abducted Yazidis, Hussein Qaidi, revealed that approximately 400 Kurdish Yezidi citizens are still being held inside al-Hol camp in northeastern Syria.
Qaidi said that women affiliated with the ISIS organization exert control over key aspects of the camp, and that the alteration of the identities of abducted children represents a major obstacle to search and rescue efforts.
He noted that the office issued a public appeal on the 26th of this month, providing a dedicated phone number to receive information from residents in Syrian Kurdistan regarding missing Yazidis in Al-Hol camp or in other areas.
Qaidi added: “Our teams continuously follow up on the information received. We previously had data confirming the presence of a group of Yazidi women and children inside the camp, but to this moment, there is no new confirmed information about their fate.”
According to the office’s estimates, nearly 400 Yezidis are believed to remain trapped in the camp, which is reportedly under a form of “domination” by extremist women, who manage internal affairs to the extent of imposing imprisonment and even killed on those who oppose them.
The director highlighted the complex obstacles facing rescue efforts, pointing to two categories of Yazidis inside the camp.
The first group consists of women who are afraid to reveal their true identities for fear of retaliation from extremist cells and their affiliates inside the camp.
The second group consists of children who were abducted at a young age and raised in an extremist environment, where their names, religion, and language were altered—making identification and the verification of their true identities extremely difficult.
