Deir Ez-Zour: Death Toll from Euphrates River Ferry Sinking Rises to Three
ARK News.. Deir Ez-Zour Governor Ziad al-Ayesh announced that the death toll from the ferry sinking in the Euphrates River has risen to three.
Anas al-Futaih, Deputy Director of Deir Ez-Zour Health Directorate, said: "Deir Ez-Zour National Hospital has received two bodies and seven survivors, while more cases continue to arrive."
Meanwhile, the Syrian Civil Defense said that at least two children were killed in the incident and 15 people were rescued.
Local sources on social media also reported that the body of a young girl had been recovered from the Euphrates River in the village of al-Tabiya in the eastern Deir Ez-Zour countryside, suggesting she was among the victims of last night's ferry sinking.
According to media sources, between 20 and 25 people remain missing. Al-Futaih said that "the chances of recovering them alive are diminishing as time passes."
