Homs and Hama rural: 3 children and a young man were victims of land mines
ARK News… Three children were injured and a young man lost his life as a result of the explosion of two mines, one in the eastern countryside of Homs and the other in the Hama countryside.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights said, “Mus’ab Muhammad Hussein Sharrouf al-Sheikh, from the town of Morik in the northern countryside of Hama Governorate, aged 27, was killed on February 23, 2024, as a result of a mine explosion while he was plowing agricultural land in the Tal al-Sawan area.” In the northern countryside of Hama Governorate. It also reported that three children were injured “as a result of a landmine explosion in the al-Gharbiyya fields area near the city of Palmyra in the eastern countryside of Homs Governorate, on February 23, 2024. The area is under the control of Syrian regime forces.”
The Syrian Network for Human Rights called on "the controlling forces to bear the responsibility of protecting civilians in their areas, and to detect and remove the locations of mines planted there."
Noting that it "recorded hundreds of deaths and injuries resulting from mine explosions, which poses a major threat to the population in those areas for years to come, especially to children."
According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, since the beginning of the year, 18 civilians have lost their lives, including 15 children, as a result of the explosion of mines and objects left over from the Syrian war, in addition to the injury of 30 people, including a woman and 22 children.
