ARK News.. Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Saturday ordered an investigation into the case of alleged deportation of Mustafa Salimi, an Iranian Kurd who was executed days ago in Iran.

KRG Spokesperson Jotyar Adil said in a statement that media reports indicate that the security forces, known as Asayish, had deported Salimi from Penjwen, in Sulaimaniyah province.

However, according to Jotyar, no official KRG institution was informed about the case, for which a committee will be formed to probe the issue.

BasNews previously reported that Salimi was executed in Iran after he allegedly escaped from prison in Saqiz during a prison riot a few weeks ago, and sought refuge in Kurdistan Region.

Hengaw Organization for Human Rights has confirmed the execution. It also revealed that the security forces affiliated with the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) had captured Salim and forced him to return to Iran despite the fact that they were aware of a death penalty issued for the Kurdish man for political reasons.

Kurdistan’s independent commission for human rights also said earlier today that they will investigate into the case separately.
