Nechirvan Barzani Directs Immediate Assistance for Flood Victims in Erbil

Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani on Sunday, November 8, 2026, directed that all forms of immediate support and assistance be provided to people affected by the flash floods that struck Erbil the previous night.
According to the Kurdistan Region Presidency’s website, Barzani held a telephone conversation on Sunday with Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw to follow up on the impact of the flooding and discuss the damage it caused, particularly to residents.
The Kurdistan Region President extended his condolences and sympathy to the families and relatives of those who lost their lives in the floods. He instructed the Erbil governor and relevant authorities to provide all forms of support and assistance to those affected and take the necessary measures to address the aftermath of the flooding.
For his part, Governor Khoshnaw briefed Barzani on the situation, the extent of the damage, and the measures taken to respond. He expressed his gratitude for the president's follow-up and continued concern for residents and those affected.
