ARK News.. The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump has asked Germany and France to withdraw quantities of diesel fuel from emergency reserves to help lower global fuel prices, three sources familiar with the matter said, warning that the two countries could otherwise face a U.S. ban on diesel exports.

According to Reuters, one of the sources, a U.S. official, said: “It is in Europe’s interest to cooperate with the United States as we seek multiple pathways to bolster supplies of refined products and reduce costs for consumers.”

A second source, based in a European capital, said the United States had asked the European Union to release 120 million barrels of diesel over the next six months, according to the agency.

Europe has become more dependent on U.S. fuel after banning Russian imports following Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine and amid disruptions to Middle Eastern supplies resulting from the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran.
