U.S. Aircraft Carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt Heads Toward the Middle East
ARK News.. A U.S. news website reported that the U.S. Navy’s USS Theodore Roosevelt, a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier, is heading to the Middle East to replace another carrier already deployed in the region, as tensions with Iran continue.
According to Warship Cam, a website specialising in tracking warship movements, the Theodore Roosevelt, the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 9, departed San Diego on Sunday and is expected to replace the USS George Washington, which is based in Japan and was deployed to the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) area of responsibility last month.
According to The Hill, the deployment of the Theodore Roosevelt comes as the United States is working to increase the flow of oil through the Strait of Hormuz, while U.S. warships continue to enforce a naval blockade in the Arabian Sea.
