CENTCOM Denies Reports of Deaths Among the Crew of the USS Abraham Lincoln

ARK News.. The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) denied media reports claiming that deaths had occurred among the crew of the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier, which is deployed in the Middle East, and said that reports regarding deteriorating mental health among sailors were “false claims.”

CENTCOM said: “Over the past 48 hours, multiple media outlets have published unfounded claims regarding the deployment of the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) in the Middle East. One report claimed that seven sailors had died in a fight aboard the carrier, while other reports recently suggested an increase in suicidal thoughts. These reports are false.”

CENTCOM added: “The truth: The USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier has one of the highest crew reenlistment rates, at 84.4%, compared with all aircraft carriers in the U.S. Navy.”

CENTCOM explained: “The sailors and Marines of the Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group have maintained their resilience and steadfast determination after more than 260 days at sea, conducting 10,000 sorties and expending 1.5 million pounds of ordnance.”

CENTCOM also confirmed: “There have been no deaths among service members aboard the carrier, and the only sailor who fell overboard on August 3 was rescued quickly and safely.”

It added: “The misleading and widespread media coverage surrounding the historic mission of the USS Abraham Lincoln is a disservice to our service members and their families.”
