Qatar: Oman-Iran Talks on Strait of Hormuz Reach Advanced Stage
ARK News.. The Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson has announced that talks between Oman and Iran over the future of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz have now reached an advanced stage.
Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed Al Ansari said during a press briefing on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, that Qatar had received “positive feedback from Oman and Iran,” stressing Doha’s support for “all de-escalation efforts” and affirming that Qatar welcomes any regional cooperation that contributes to strengthening security and stability in the region.
“We, as mediators, want to see the Strait of Hormuz reopened as soon as possible,” Al Ansari said, stressing that Qatar “supports any formula that guarantees the security of the Strait of Hormuz and freedom of navigation and prevents it from becoming a tool of political pressure.”
