Arin Masrour Barzani Receives 2026 Global Recognition Award for Leadership

Arin Masrour Barzani has received the 2026 Global Recognition Award for Leadership in recognition of his efforts and successful initiatives through the Kurdistan Foundation in the fields of youth empowerment, environmental protection, education development, and strengthening community services.

Through the foundation’s work, Arin Masrour Barzani has focused on supporting sustainable development and creating genuine opportunities for employment, training, and skills development, with an emphasis on engaging young people and different segments of society in community service.

Official figures from the foundation show tangible results from its humanitarian and community programs. To date, it has supported the participation of 25,000 volunteers, overseen training programs benefiting more than 29,000 people, helped provide employment opportunities for around 35,000 young people, and completed more than 41,000 hours of public service for the community.

Among the foundation’s prominent projects is Youth Hub, one of the largest youth centers in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, providing an environment conducive to learning, dialogue, communication, and coordination among young people.

In the environmental field, the foundation implements the “Climate.KRD100 Schools” campaign to raise awareness of climate change by providing students and teachers with scientific educational materials on environmental protection and climate change, with the aim of strengthening environmental awareness and promoting the concept of shared responsibility toward the environment.

In innovation and technology, Arin Barzani officially supported a Kurdish Text-to-Speech project, which provides an important service for Kurdish-speaking people with visual impairments and contributes to enhancing the participation of all segments of society in democratic and social life without discrimination.

The decision to grant the award followed an assessment conducted by an international panel of experts evaluating Arin Barzani’s work in leadership, innovation, public service, environmental protection, and positive social impact.

The committee based its assessment on a scoring system ranging from 1 to 5, with five representing the highest level of global excellence, using the scientific methodology known as the Rasch Model.

Alex Sterling, a spokesperson for the Global Recognition Award organization, said Arin Masrour Barzani deserved the award, noting that he had succeeded in combining a clear vision with practical service while developing a system that enables young people and vulnerable groups to participate in shaping the future of the Kurdistan Region.

He added that Arin Masrour Barzani’s efforts contribute to creating opportunities, strengthening shared responsibility, supporting communities, and empowering them to access the resources they need and achieve their aspirations.
