Iran's Baghaei: Tehran Not Holding Any Talks with Washington at Present

Aug 03 2026

ARK News.. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei said Tehran is not currently engaged in any talks with the United States, stressing that Iran has no plans at this stage to receive any foreign delegation or send negotiators abroad.

Speaking at his weekly press conference on Monday, Aug. 3, 2026, Baghaei said discussions between Iran and Oman had continued in recent days regarding maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz but emphasized that reaching an understanding with Muscat alone "is not sufficient to reopen the strait."

Baghaei added that "there will be no change in the status of the Strait of Hormuz as long as Washington continues its aggression and naval blockade," noting that all members of Iran's negotiating team are currently inside the country.

The spokesman also said China is seeking to help reduce regional tensions but added that "it cannot be said that there are any new mediators" involved in the crisis.

Baghaei reiterated that Iran "does not currently intend to receive any delegation or be a guest of any party," while accusing the United States of bearing responsibility for developments both in the region and beyond.
