Joseph Aoun: There Is No Option to End the War with Israel Except Through Negotiation

ARK News.. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has affirmed that Lebanon has no option for ending the war with Israel other than through negotiations.

In press remarks, Aoun stated that “those who fuel strife are providing a service to Israel,” stressing that “the army and security agencies are the backbone and the foundation for preventing discord.”

The Lebanese president also emphasized that “there is no alternative to negotiation,” noting that “strength does not lie in waging war, but in having the courage to end it through negotiations in the interest of the country.”

His remarks come at a time when U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Monday a halt to the exchange of attacks between Israel and Lebanon’s Hezbollah.

In a post on the Truth Social platform, Trump said, "I had a productive conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and we confirmed that no Israeli forces will be sent to Beirut and that any forces that were on their way have already been recalled.”

He added: “Likewise, I had a very good conversation with Hezbollah through senior representatives, and they agreed to a complete ceasefire and that Israel will not attack them and they will not attack Israel.”
