ARK News..The head of the Independent Institution on Missing Persons in Syria stressed that addressing the issue of missing persons is a fundamental priority for rebuilding trust, achieving reconciliation, and establishing lasting peace in the country.

Speaking during a briefing to the United Nations General Assembly, Carla Quintana, Head of the Independent Institution on Missing Persons in Syria, said: "It is impossible to imagine stability, reconciliation, and lasting peace in Syria without knowing the fate of the missing."

She explained that the institution is continuing to build a comprehensive system aimed at determining the fate and whereabouts of all missing persons, while also providing support to their families. She emphasized that achieving this goal cannot be accomplished through isolated investigations, but instead requires an integrated system capable of collecting, analyzing, sharing, and transforming information into concrete answers.

Quintana added that, over the past year, the institution has begun providing some families with information about their missing relatives, while simultaneously developing the systems needed to deliver more answers in the future.

She also revealed that the institution has processed more than 75,000 documents, more than nine times the number processed during the period covered by the previous report.

Furthermore, Quintana noted that the institution has integrated extensive databases and developed analytical tools that connect information related to thousands of cases, reinforcing an approach based on identifying patterns and links among the available information.
