Dutch Foreign Minister Wopke Hoekstra summoned Iran's ambassador following the execution of two protesters and called on European Union member states to do the same.
The Dutch minister said through a message on Twitter: "(I was terrified) by the horrific executions" carried out by the Iranian government on Saturday, according to the Spanish "Europa Press".
Hoekstra added: "I will summon the Iranian ambassador to underline our deep concern, and I call on the member states of the European Union to do the same."
Hoekstra further stated that the Netherlands is already preparing a fourth package of human rights sanctions against Iran, and intends to present it at the next EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting.
For his part, British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly condemned, on Saturday, Iran's execution of two protesters, and urged it to "immediately stop violence against its people."
"The execution of Mohammad Mehdi Karami and Sayyid Mohammad Husseini by the Iranian regime is abhorrent," Cleverly said on Twitter. "The UK strongly opposes the death penalty in all circumstances."
Since September 16, Iran has been witnessing protests following the death of the young woman, Mahsa Amini, three days after she was arrested by the morality police for not adhering to the country's strict dress code.
Since the beginning of the protests, the judiciary has sentenced 14 people to death for their association with the demonstrations, according to an AFP tally based on official information. Of these, the death sentence was carried out against four people, and the Supreme Court confirmed two rulings against two others, while six new trials are awaiting, and two others can appeal.
Activists assert that dozens of other people face charges that carry the death penalty.
