
The coalition delegation holds a series of meetings in the Belgian capita
ARK News… The delegation of the Syrian National Coalition in Brussels held a series of meetings with a number of donor countries and international political figures, on the sidelines of the conference, with the aim of reviewing the humanitarian aid file, the need to increase its flow in proportion to the size of the needs, and renewing the decision to introduce humanitarian aid to the needy through the border.
The coalition delegation met with a delegation from the European Union headed by Karl Heller Card in the Belgian capital, Brussels, on the sidelines of the Sixth Annual Donors Conference on Syria. The head of the coalition affirmed the commitment to achieving the demands of the Syrian people for freedom, dignity, and democracy, and to guaranteeing the rights of all the Syrian people.
The attendees pointed out the need to continue cooperating with the rest of the international parties, including the United States and Turkey, to prevent any attempt to normalize with the Assad regime or allow its re-float, and to activate the process of accountability.
The coalition delegation also met with the Canadian envoy to Syria Rasta Daye. The coalition delegation demanded the Canadian envoy support its country in the files of education, health, agricultural development, and irrigation.
The delegation also held a meeting with a delegation from the Belgian Permanent Mission to the European Union at the headquarters of the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Belgian envoy for the Syrian file, Mark Oates, and the permanent representative of Belgium to the European Union, William Forde, also attended.
The coalition delegation also met with a delegation from the British Foreign Office. The British delegation was headed by the British Director-General for America, Overseas and Middle East files, Vijay Rangar Jan, and included the British envoy to Syria Jonathan Hargreaves.
Finally, the coalition delegation met with a delegation from the US State Department headed by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Ethan Goldrich and Andrew Mueller, Senior Adviser to the US Mission to the United Nations, and Flower Bell of the US National Security Council. The attendees discussed developments in the political process, and the National Coalition delegation stressed the need to open all tracks of the political process included in UN Resolution 2254.
The delegation of the National Coalition stressed the need to continue the sanctions against the Assad regime, and to reject any attempt to normalize with them or reduce the ceiling of sanctions, in order to force the Assad regime to engage in the political process and reach a genuine political transition that fulfills the aspirations of the Syrian people for freedom and dignity.
The delegation of the National Coalition stressed the need to press for the release of detainees in the regime’s prisons, stressing the need to activate the process of accountability, and pointed out the importance of urgent action by the United States of America within the Security Council as it chairs the Council for this month in order to hold the Assad regime accountable for its massacre of 41 civilians on the least in the Tadamon neighborhood in Damascus, whose details were revealed by the Guardian newspaper.
