The 14th Anniversary of the Assassination of Martyr and Activist Mishaal Tammo
ARK News.. Today, Tuesday, October 7, 2025, marks the 14th anniversary of the assassination of martyr Mishaal Tammo in the city of Qamishlo, in Syrian Kurdistan.
On October 7, 2011, four masked and unidentified gunmen stormed a house in Qamishlo where Mishaal Tammo was present along with his son Marcel and activist Zahida Rashkilo. The attackers opened fire, resulting in the martyrdom of Mishaal Tammo and the serious wounding of Zahida Rashkilo and Marcel Tammo.
The assassination of Mishaal Tammo sparked widespread outrage and anger across the Kurdish and broader Syrian public. Tens of thousands of his supporters took to the streets in protest against his killing, particularly in the cities of Qamishlo and Amouda in Syrian Kurdistan
