It was tested on a Syrian animal... A new treatment for Coronavirus
ARK News… Scientists in Hong Kong, on Monday, announced that an antimicrobial drug used to treat stomach ulcers and bacterial infections has shown amazing results in combating the emerging Coronavirus (Covid 19) in animals.
Using Syrian mice in the laboratory, researchers found that a drug, ranitidine bismuth citrate, is a strong factor of anti-SARS-CoV-2 -2.
The Syrian mouse is known as the "golden hamster" (Syrian hamster), and its original home in northern Syria and southern Turkey, and is used in treatment experiments on Corona around the world, due to the similarity of the virus's effect on its lungs with what happens in humans.
"The drug ranitidine bismuth citrate is able to reduce the viral load in the lung of the infected mouse by ten times," said a researcher at the University of Hong Kong, Ramming Wang, while presenting the study.
He added, "Our findings show that this drug is a potent antiviral agent in the case of Covid-19."
Researchers are trying to ascertain which drugs are used to fight bacteria, and what antiviral properties they have.
It is noteworthy that the number of Coronavirus infections around the world reached 37 million and 600 thousand people, while the Coronavirus has caused the death of more than a million people since its appearance in China in December last year before it spread around the world.
