One day after the Safe Zone Agreement, differences between Turkey and America are emerging
ARK News: The first day of the Safe Zone Agreement between Turkey and the United States in Kurdistan Syria passed without incident, but differences began to emerge between the two sides, according to Turkish statements.
Turkey is concerned about the presence of PYD militants, and it sees them as a threat, and that the safe area under certain conditions can allay these fears.
The joint US-Turkish patrols began on Sunday morning, in Gire Spi area(Tel Abyadh) near the Turkish border in Syrian Kurdistan, in implementation of the agreement concluded between Ankara and Washington last August.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Sunday evening said that there was "disagreement" with the United States "at every step" in negotiating the safe zone.
Erdogan pointed to a discrepancy between Ankara and Washington on several points, including the depth of the safe area, Turkey wants it to a distance of 32 kilometers, while the United States talks about only 5 kilometers.
