In a statement issued on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, Barzani stressed that the decision embodies the highest expression of loyalty to the blood of the martyrs and respect for the will of voters.

I extend my warmest congratulations to the newly elected Speaker of the Kurdistan Parliament in its sixth term, as well as to the Deputy Speaker and the Parliament Secretary. I also offer my sincere congratulations and appreciation to the patriotic, dedicated, courageous, and committed members of the Kurdistan Parliament for defending its legitimacy and restoring its work.

Your decision today embodies the highest expression of loyalty to the blood of the martyrs and respect for the will of voters. It is a clear victory for the will of the people of Kurdistan.

Reactivating the Parliament’s work represents a firm commitment to moving forward with the democratic process. I hope that all other members of parliament will attend parliamentary sessions in the coming days so that they can fulfill their national, legal, and moral duties and live up to their responsibilities and the trust placed in them by their voters.
