ARK News.. The second group of the seventh convoy under the voluntary return programme for families displaced from Serekaniye and its countryside departed on Thursday from shelters and displacement camps in Hasaka. The group included 475 families returning to their areas of origin.

An official from the Serekaniye Displaced Persons Committee said on Thursday, November 5, 2026, that the first group had departed on Wednesday, comprising 372 families, most of whom had been living in shelters in Hasaka city. The process continued today with the return of another 475 families from displacement camps across Hasaka Province.

The official noted that the relevant authorities had taken the necessary measures to ensure the families' safe return to their villages and homes, through coordination among the government and security bodies overseeing the convoys and arrangements to ensure the returnees reached their destinations.

The convoy is part of the voluntary return program launched last August, which aims to return around 12,500 families displaced from Serekaniye and its countryside to their areas of origin.

Previous return convoys included 413 families in the first, 700 in the second, 520 in the third, 518 in the fourth, and 385 in the fifth. The sixth convoy comprised 645 families, bringing the total number of families who have returned to more than 4,000.

The Turkish military operation, carried out in 2019 with the participation of Syrian opposition factions under the name Operation Peace Spring, displaced nearly 300,000 people from Sari Kaniye and Gire Spi in the first days of the offensive, according to UN and human rights reports.
