Another Syrian official hints at the proximity of the Damascus agreement with the PYD administration
ARK News: After Deputy Foreign Minister Faysal Miqdad, who expressed his optimism about the "dialogue" with the Democratic Union Party (PYD), another senior Syrian official hinted, on Sunday, to reach an agreement with the mentioned Party.
Miqdad has recently expressed his optimism about dialogue with the PYD administration that the later wants to conclude a political agreement with Damascus as part of its efforts to stave off an attack threatening by Turkey.
Miqdad said: "Previous experiences (with PYD management) were not encouraging, but now things have come to an end” adding that "if some Kurds (in reference to the PYD) claim to be an integral part of the Syrian state and the people of Syria, these are the favorable conditions. So I'm always optimistic. "
Miqdad continued saying: "We encourage these groups and political groups to be sincere in the dialogue that is now taking place between the Syrian state and these groups," adding that it must be taken into account that there is no alternative.
In this context, Syrian deputy Foreign Minister, Aiman Susan, on Sunday that the government hopes to “intensify” the dialogue with the “Syrian Kurdish groups”, in reference to the PYD management, referring to the “its confidence” in reaching an agreement with the Party.
During his meeting with a group of journalists in Damascus, Susan said that the Syrian government “trusts that it will hold an agreement with the Kurds”, in reference to the PYD management.
The Syrian official pointed out that Damascus is waiting for the arrival of the new UN envoy Gear Pedersen, to the country, stressing that the government is ready to cooperate with him.
A member of the presidential council of the Syrian Democratic Council (the political wing of Syria Democratic Forces) considered the comments of Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faysal al-Miqdad are "positive" in principle while pointing out that they needed a practical translation.
The PYD administration has sought to Russian mediation in talks with the Syrian regime as part of their strategy to fill the vacuum left by the withdrawal of US troops from the country in compliance with President Donald Trump's decision.
The previous talks between Damascus and the PYD administration did not produce tangible results, that the latter had requested the deployment of government forces in their areas of control, following the increasing Turkish threats to invade the Party control areas and the sudden US decision to withdraw from Syria.
The source said: "The delegation of the Syrian Democratic Council headed by Badran Djiya Kurd from Moscow, after meetings with Russian officials on the deployment of the regime forces in the seam zone with Turkey in Manbij and east of the Euphrates in western Kurdistan to block any possible Turkish invasion.
Adding that "Djiya Kurd (a member of the Executive Committee of the Movement for Democratic Society, whose political face is the PYD) demanded during his meetings in Moscow to recognize the self-management with Russian guarantees," adding that " the talks of the delegation have not produced any results so far."
As the source pointed out, that "the Russians asked them to hand over their weapons and coordinate with the regime in exchange for not being eliminated and the destruction of the region," according to the source, who explained that "the system categorically rejects the constitutional recognition of self-management of the PYD, stressing that “the regime rejected the proposal of the PYD Absolutely”.
