Nechirvan Barzani and Mazloum Abdi Stress Need for Kurdish Dialogue in Syria to Resolve Outstanding Issues with Damascus
ARK News.. Nechirvan Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region, met on Tuesday morning, May 26, 2026, with Mazloum Abdi, commander-in-chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), to discuss the importance of dialogue and understanding among Kurdish parties in Syria in order to resolve ongoing issues with Damascus.
The meeting addressed the situation in Syria and the conditions of the Kurds and other components there.
Both sides also exchanged views and perspectives on the latest regional developments, the importance of preserving stability, and confronting the threats of terrorism.
For his part, Mazloum Abdi expressed his thanks and appreciation for the continued support provided by Nechirvan Barzani and the leadership of the Kurdistan Region for the rights of the Kurds and other components in Syria.
The meeting also underscored the necessity of dialogue and mutual understanding among Kurdish parties in Syria to resolve outstanding problems and issues with Damascus.
Several other matters of mutual interest were also discussed during the meeting.
