Kurdistan Exports Over Two Million Barrels of Oil Since Agreement with Baghdad
ARK News.. The Minister of Natural Resources in the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) confirmed that the region’s daily oil export average has reached around 190,000 barrels, all delivered to SOMO at the Ceyhan port in Turkey.
Kamal Mohammed, the KRG Minister of Natural Resources, stated that a total of 2.1 million barrels of oil have been exported to the Ceyhan terminal since the oil agreement was signed between Erbil and Baghdad on September 22, 2025.
He added that these exports have been carried out at an average rate of about 190,000 barrels per day, all handed over to SOMO at Ceyhan.
According to Minister Mohammed, the Kurdistan Region currently produces around 250,000 barrels of oil per day, of which 50,000 barrels are used for domestic consumption in line with the agreement.
Regarding the temporary halt in exports, he explained that SOMO notified the KRG on October 3, 2025, that some storage tanks at Ceyhan were full, which led to a 10-hour suspension of exports. On October 6, the company again requested a reduction in export rates due to renewed storage capacity constraints.
