UAE Rejects Assad Family’s Request for Permanent Residency in Abu Dhabi
ARK News.. An Israeli newspaper has revealed new details regarding the fate of the family of former Syrian president Bashar al-Assad following the collapse of his regime, reporting that Abu Dhabi rejected a request by the family to settle permanently in the United Arab Emirates.
According to the Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth, members of Assad’s family submitted repeated appeals seeking permission to relocate and reside permanently in Abu Dhabi.
The newspaper reported that the family made several requests to the UAE authorities for permanent residency and asylum. However, the UAE leadership reportedly rejected their request outright and refused to allow them to relocate and establish residence in the country.
According to the report, Emirati security officials justified the decision on the grounds of serious security concerns. They allegedly informed the family that their presence in the UAE would pose a genuine security risk and warned that they could become easy targets for assassination attempts.
