Port of Tartous Receives Ship Carrying Over 50,000 Tons of Rice
ARK News.. The Syrian General Authority for Land and Sea Ports announced that the Port of Tartous has received a massive cargo ship arriving from Dalian Port in China, carrying more than 50,000 tons of rice.
According to the authority, the vessel is classified as a large-scale ship, measuring approximately 190 meters in length with a draft of 12 meters — demonstrating the port’s technical readiness and logistical capacity to handle ships of this size.
The source added that “this operation confirms Tartous Port’s efficiency as a key hub for regional and international trade on the Mediterranean.”
Official data shows that since resuming operations and up until the end of August, the Port of Tartous has received 594 ships, including general cargo vessels, container ships, and repair ships. It also handled 4,373 containers, split almost evenly between imports and exports — signaling a return to balance in Syria’s trade flow.
In terms of total cargo, the port processed more than 3.67 million tons, including over 3 million tons of imports and roughly 631,000 tons of exports
