ARK News.. The Hama Governorate announced that engineering teams successfully cleared eight tons of war remnants from the al-Ghab Plain in a single day — a significant step toward restoring security and reviving the area.

According to the governorate’s statement, demining operations were carried out by the engineering unit of the 62nd Division, Ministry of Defense, which continues its field efforts to clear the region of mines and unexploded ordnance.

Volunteer demining engineer Salah Abdul Ghani described the removal of such a large quantity in one day as “a qualitative shift” in addressing the landmine crisis. He expressed optimism that similar operations would soon be launched in other affected regions.

“This large-scale clearance in a single day is not just about the quantity removed,” Abdul Ghani said, “but also its symbolic value — it shows there is genuine political and technical will to rehabilitate war-torn areas, paving the way for long-awaited security and economic stability.”

According to UN reports, Syria remains one of the most contaminated countries in the world with war remnants, with millions of mines and unexploded ordnance scattered across provinces such as Aleppo, Hama, Raqqa, Deir Ez-Zour, and Hasaka — posing a daily threat to civilians and hindering reconstruction and development efforts.
