ARK News… A special dialogue session entitled "The Kurdish Issue in Syria" was held in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, to discuss the challenges facing the Kurdish people and ways to solve it.

The session, which was organized by the Studies Department of the National Relations Office of the Kurdistan Democratic Party - Syria, at the Capitol Hotel in Erbil, on Saturday, December 9, 2023, was attended by a number of politicians, writers, media figures, and those interested in public affairs.

Regarding the topics of the session, Dr. Abdel Hakim Bachar, Vice President of the Syrian National Coalition, said in a special statement to the “ARK” correspondent: “We discussed the general challenges facing the Kurdish issue in Syria, such as demographic change. It is true that this change is temporary, but there are fears that it may turn into permanent.” “So, we need a strategy to confront such dangers.”

Bachar added, "There is another challenge before us, which is establishing the rights of the Kurdish people in the Syrian constitution, as interest in the Syrian file has decreased due to the repercussions of the Ukrainian war and the war in Gaza."

Regarding the countries’ dealings with the Syrian opposition, the Vice President of the Syrian National Coalition added: “The major countries such as America, Britain, France and Germany deal positively with the Syrian opposition, and a week ago the ambassadors of 13 countries attended the meeting of the Syrian National Coalition and the Negotiating Committee, in meetings like this, as representatives of the Kurdish National Council in "The Syrian Coalition, we always put the Kurdish issue on the negotiating table."

The session concluded with many recommendations that would develop the performance of the Kurdish National Council and activate its external relations with the Arab environment in a way that serves the Kurdish cause in Syria.
