ARK News… The United Kingdom emphasized ensuring the protection of the rights of Syrians, and its continued support for countries hosting Syrian refugees, calling on the Syrian regime to participate meaningfully in a political settlement that guarantees stability in Syria.

In a speech during the UN Security Council session on Syria, on Thursday, 25/24/2024, Barbara Woodward, the United Kingdom’s ambassador to the United Nations, said: “Syrian refugees cannot return to their homes because of the actions of the Syrian regime, and Syria is not yet an appropriate environment, for the safe, dignified and voluntary return of refugees.

Barbara Woodward stressed that her country will remain steadfast in its support for countries hosting refugee communities, and to ensure the protection of their rights, and with a record number of 16.7 million Syrians in need of humanitarian assistance, effective and sustainable access is a priority, and cross-border aid constitutes a lifeline for more than 4 million of these people."
