ARK News: A wristwatch worn by Bashar al-Assad's regime chief, Imad Khamis, provoked indignation and anger at the network among the regime ’s loyalists because of its very high price, estimated at millions of Syrian pounds.

This high price of the watch raised criticism of Assad's prime minister, and pro-government pages said that the price of Imad’s Khamis’ watch was equivalent to a government employee's salary for 20 years. Other comments pointed to the poor economic conditions of the Assad army fighters, compared to government officials, and some comments were not without irony.

The Syrian workers working in the government sector complain about the weakness of their salaries compared to the inflated prices of products in the markets, where the salary of the employee does not exceed 30,000 pounds per month, and some of them have to rent a house in Damascus, at a time when the price of renting an apartment in slum areas to 150 thousand pounds per month.
