Death Toll from Jordanian Airstrikes in Daraa Rises to Seven, with Three Injured
ARK News... The death toll from airstrikes carried out by the Royal Jordanian Air Force on sites in the Daraa countryside in southern Syria on Monday evening has risen to seven, with three others injured.
Daraa Health Director Khaled al-Amyan told the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, that the strikes targeted the al-Tuff area in al-Masmiya, as well as areas around the towns of Nasib and al-Mzeireb in the Daraa countryside.
Al-Amyan said those killed included a woman, three children, and three men, one of whom was elderly. The injured included a child and two men.
The Syrian government said it was closely monitoring developments in the south, noting that the Jordanian military operation had been carried out without prior coordination between the two countries.
In a statement, the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said Damascus had informed the Jordanian side of its reservations about conducting any military operations inside Syrian territory without prior arrangements and official notification.
Following the developments on the ground, the Syrian General Authority for Border Crossings and Customs announced that the Nasib border crossing with Jordan would be closed starting Tuesday, citing the need to protect travelers and secure the area amid the current situation.
On Monday evening, the Royal Jordanian Air Force announced that it had conducted a military operation targeting what it described as “terrorist group hideouts” in southern Syria. Jordan said the operation was in response to an attack on a church in Karak Governorate last Friday, which killed nine people and injured around 40 others.
Jordan also said the perpetrators of the Karak church attack were linked to the groups targeted in southern Syria on Monday.
