A report reveals Turkish economic gains in a safe area
ARK News: A Turkish report on Saturday revealed the economic gains that Turkey hopes to make from the establishment of the so-called “safe zone” in northern Syria.
"Zaman" newspaper mentioned in a report on Saturday that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is seeking economic gains from his project to establish a "safe area" in northeastern Syria, along with other strategic objectives.
According to the report, Erdogan plans to establish towns and villages in the safe area to accommodate a million people initially, and publish details of the housing project that Erdogan wants to build, to get rid of the burden of Syrian refugees in his country.
According to the plan, 10 towns with a population of 30,000 each and 140 villages with a population of 5,000 each will be established in the “Safe Zone”.
According to the plan announced by Erdogan, to house about one million Syrians, each village includes independent housing units, each unit on an area of 100 square meters, consisting of 3 rooms and one hall, a total of 1000 housing units, in addition to two mosques, and 16 schools each with a capacity 16 classes, 1 youth center, and covered gym. Each family will be granted one-acre farmland.
As for the towns, the town consists of 6000 housing units, each on an area of 100 square meters, consisting of two rooms and a hall or three rooms and a hall, in addition to a central mosque, 10 small mosques in neighborhoods, 8 schools with a capacity of 16 classrooms, a secondary school, two sports halls, 5 youth centers, 4 football pitches, a 10-bed hospital for 8 towns, and another 200-bed hospital in two towns, In addition to a small industrial area, a university, with projects to meet the necessary infrastructure needs.
The total cost of building sufficient units for housing one million people is about 150 billion, 965 million and 400 thousand TL.
Experts point out that Erdogan wants to exploit the issue of the 'safe zone' economically, by requesting international participation in the reconstruction of northeastern Syria.
It is expected that the Turkish housing company “Toki” for construction in “safe area”, according to the report.
