SDF continue supplying oil to the Syrian regime
ARK News.. The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) continue to supply crude oil from oil fields under their control to the Syrian regime. This occurs while cities and towns in Syrian Kurdistan and areas under SDF control face severe fuel shortages.
Local sources reported that dozens of oil tankers were seen on Monday, November 11, 2024, heading from regime-controlled areas to Hasaka in Syrian Kurdistan to load crude oil and transport it to areas under regime control.
The SDF's supply of crude oil to the Syrian regime coincides with the PYD administration’s decision to raise the price of free-market diesel to 6,000 Syrian pounds and to halt the distribution of diesel for heating to the public.
A source previously informed ARK News that in December 2023, the PYD administration signed an agreement with the Syrian regime, committing to supply it with 320 tankers of diesel daily—approximately 93% of the PYD’s fuel share. The agreement took effect immediately after signing.
According to the source, the PYD administration retains only 7% of the diesel produced in oil fields controlled by the SDF, which it sells on the black market at high prices.
The SDF controls major oil and gas fields in the region, including the Rmelan and Suweidiyah fields in the countryside of Derik, the Shaddadi and Jabse fields in the Hasakah countryside, as well as the Omar and Tanak fields in Deir ez-Zor.
