Displaced Residents of Sari Kaniye Call for Their Return Home to Be Accelerated
ARK News.. Displaced residents of Sari Kaniye in Syrian Kurdistan have renewed their calls for an expedited return to their home areas and for a safe, voluntary, and dignified return after years of displacement and suffering in camps.
A protest was held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at the Washokani camp in the Hasaka countryside, with dozens of residents, including women and children, taking part. Protesters called for roads to be reopened and return corridors to be secured, as well as for mines and remnants of war to be cleared. They also demanded guarantees for the protection of returnees, compensation for those affected, and the reconstruction of destroyed homes.
The protesters also called on international and humanitarian organizations, as well as influential countries, to intervene and exert pressure to reopen closed roads, establish safe routes for return, and clear areas of mines and unexploded remnants of war, enabling families to resume normal lives and bring their prolonged suffering to an end.
