President Barzani: Successful Anti-Corruption Efforts Require Continuity and Must Not Be Halted
ARK News.. President Masoud Barzani received Mohammed Ali Al-Lami, Chairman of the Iraqi Integrity Commission, and his accompanying delegation in Pirmam on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.
During the meeting, Al-Lami briefed President Barzani on efforts to combat the serious phenomenon of corruption and the misuse of public funds in Iraq, as well as the progress of the anti-corruption campaign, the efforts of the Iraqi federal prime minister to ensure its success, and the obstacles and challenges facing the process.
Al-Lami also highlighted President Barzani’s historic role in building the new Iraq and asked him to provide support to help Iraq eradicate corruption across the country. He also praised the cooperation and assistance provided by official institutions in the Kurdistan Region, expressing the Iraqi Integrity Commission’s gratitude and appreciation to President Barzani.
For his part, President Barzani warmly welcomed the visiting delegation and expressed his full support for the federal government’s efforts to implement the decision to eradicate corruption and hold corrupt individuals accountable, describing this as a sacred duty.
President Barzani also stressed that the Kurdistan Region must never be allowed to become a safe haven for corrupt individuals, emphasizing that there should be no red lines protecting any person or entity in this process.
He further stressed that the success of the fight against corruption requires the process to continue without interruption or suspension, with the ultimate goal of achieving justice.
