Hezbollah Rejects Framework Agreement Between Lebanon and Israel

Aug 29 2026

ARK News.. Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassim has reiterated the Lebanese group’s rejection of the framework agreement between Lebanon and Israel, stressing that the Iran-backed group, which has fought two wars with Israel in recent years, will not surrender.

According to France Press Agency, Qassim said in a televised speech broadcast Tuesday evening on Hezbollah-affiliated Al Manar TV, "We are against the framework agreement and call for its rejection.”

The Hezbollah leader described the framework agreement as illegitimate, unlawful, and humiliating, arguing that it undermines Lebanese sovereignty and fails to restore Lebanon’s rights.

Qassim also rejected the proposed pilot areas and any arrangements resulting from them, including the verification committee and its membership.

“We do not accept this because all of it is outside the law, outside Lebanese consensus and outside the agreement,” he said.

The framework agreement between Lebanon and Israel was reached on June 26, 2026, following five rounds of negotiations mediated by the United States. It calls for the disarmament of Hezbollah, the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from territory occupied in southern Lebanon, and the deployment of the Lebanese army, initially in designated “pilot areas.”
