Masrour Barzani and Mahmoud al-Mashhadani Stress Urgent Solution for Salary Dispute

ARK News.. Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mahmoud al-Mashhadani underscored the need for an urgent resolution to the salary crisis and for guaranteeing the transfer of financial entitlements to the region.

On Sunday, July 6, 2025, Prime Minister Barzani received Speaker al-Mashhadani in Erbil. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Speaker Shakhawan Abdullah and the head of the parliamentary Integrity Committee, MP Ziyad al-Janabi.

Discussions focused on the critical outstanding issues between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the federal government, particularly the matter of salaries and financial dues for public sector employees in the region.

Both sides agreed that the salaries file must be insulated from political disputes to prevent KRG employees from becoming victims of such conflicts, stressing that the region’s citizens had been treated unfairly in this regard.

They also reiterated the urgent need to resolve the salary issue and to ensure the timely transfer of funds to the Kurdistan Region.

Separately, the meeting affirmed the importance of respecting Iraq’s federal system and safeguarding the constitutional status and rights of the Kurdistan Region.
