The Kurdish National Council condemns the criminal attack against a student in Afrin

ARK Nes... The Kurdish National Council in Afrin condemned in a statement the exposure of a student, Shiyar Ibrahim Omar, in Mabata town High School, in Afrin, Syrian Kurdistan, to a criminal attack by displaced Arabs.

The Kurdish National Council called on the concerned authorities to take deterrent penalties against the perpetrators and their guardians and take strict measures against such abnormal behavior.

Below is the full text of the statement:

The student, Shiyar Ibrahim Omar, from the village of Qantare, in the eleventh grade in Mabata High School days before, was subjected to a criminal attack with a rifle bayonet. He was stabbed five times in the abdomen, lung, and spleen. Three displaced students from the third year of secondary school participated in the crime of attempted murder.

While we in the Kurdish National Council in Afrin condemn this terrorist crime, we affirm that such behavior is far from the behavior of educational institutions and results from clear negligence on the part of the school administration as well as the families of the students. The school is an educational institution and not a den of gangs.

It is known that the school is a safe environment for parents and a source of comfort and reassurance for their students, but the occurrence of such terrorist acts makes schools a source of anxiety, terror and dread.

The Directorate of Education, as well as school administrations, must be more vigilant and carry out their role more effectively, issuing strict and firm orders so that such terrorist acts by those with abnormal behavior towards their fellow students are not repeated. The civil police are also required to do their part to maintain security and safety and make people feel psychological comfort and reassurance, especially students. Schools and educational staff to develop the educational process.
